The Dream Rocket aims to connect art and education through a global collaborative initiative. It will inspire participants to consider, express, and explore their dreams for a better future using Dream Themes such as Energy, Space, Peace, Science, Recycling, etc.

This global arts and sciences initiative will be memorialized by wrapping the Saturn V Rocket with a quilt produced from contributing students, educators, and community partners.

On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy announced the U.S. intention of “landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to earth.” Just over eight years after President Kennedy’s announcement, the earth sat spellbound as they viewed a ghostly, blurred, black and white image of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the moon and declaring, “One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind.” The wrapping with art from around the world of the 37 story tall Saturn V Rocket replica standing at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama will coincide with the 50th anniversary of JFK’s lofty challenge – May and June 2011.

Here at Ocean Opportunity, we know full well the power of dreams, with the huge success of our Diving a Dream project in cooperation with Matt Johnston. We are proud to have made a small donation to the Dream Rocket project, and have submitted a square for inclusion in the Saturn V quilt. Our square is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thedreamrocket/4442895709/
