Tim Ferriss’ ‘The 4-Hour Workweek’ takes us on a journey to find our personal freedoms from mass societal conformity. While Tim’s personal journey may not be 100% realistic for the middle and lower class who often depend on physical labor to make a living, there are several principles throughout the book that indeed hold up across those in all walks of life.
At its roots are the ideas of maximizing efficiency day to day, and putting your time where it is not only best productively spent, but where you want to be. With today’s virtual world at our fingertips, there is an emphasis on utilizing web based tools for communication, organization, and collaboration to remove oneself from the daily grind, and making every move count.
Tim’s philosophies make for some good common sense. There is something for everyone in this book, from corporate execs, to the stay at home mom/dad, to the local fisherman, and to the budding entrepreneur.
In context with this Blog, the ideology of a highly efficient working existence is central to what would be necessary while establishing an undersea state of being. By reducing overhead costs and dependence on material goods, the undersea inhabitant is afforded the mental clarity to manage artificial life support, and expound upon the creative pursuits in ocean exploration necessary to attract industry, academia, and a sustainable population.
So, two thumbs up Tim! This book is guaranteed to make you rethink your day to day, and for the better.
