This morning, I partook in an interesting professional development workshop entitled ‘Map it! Digital Mapping Resources for the Classroom’, which was put on by Lynn Malone and the Rhode Island Geographic Education Alliance.

The program’s participants included teachers of all grade levels, computer resource educators, and non-profit program managers. Topics covered included a wide variety of spatial visualization tools and online mapping resources, with an emphasis on using Google Earth in the classroom.

As part of Ocean Opportunity’s continued evolutions in using interactive and social media platforms for outreach activities, we are eager to apply some newly learned tools and tricks to bring our fieldwork to classrooms and other educational venues around the world.
