Treatment Guidelines

The latest treatment guidelines from HelmetBasedVentilation.com.

The Subsalve Oxygen Treatment Hood was developed in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. This device is the critical patient interface to enable HPAP treatment.

HPAP, or Helmet [Hood] Positive Airway Pressure is a mode of non-invasive ventilation (NIV). Other common terms are helmet CPAP, non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV), or simply helmet based ventilation.

HPAP treatment allows clinicians to apply PEEP from 3-25 cm H2O while elevating FiO2 for the patient. Use of a viral filter also reduces exposure risks for healthcare workers.
